MemePress

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about how the meme generator works, privacy, and commercial use.

1. Are my uploaded images stored anywhere?

No. Your images are processed entirely in your browser using the Canvas API and are never uploaded to any server. When you close the page, they are gone. For extra privacy, we have no accounts, no tracking of your images, and no cloud storage.

2. Can I use these memes commercially?

For memes you create from your own images, yes — you own your image. Our built-in blank templates are original and royalty-free, so memes made from them are yours to use. However, you are responsible for the rights to any image or character you upload, and you should not use anyone else’s copyrighted photos or trademarked characters without permission.

3. How do I create a meme?

Open the meme generator, upload an image or select a blank template, type your top and bottom text, and the preview updates live. Adjust the text size, colors, outline, and margins to taste, then click Download PNG to save the finished meme to your device.

4. Do I need an account or to sign up?

No. The meme generator is completely free and requires no account, no email address, and no sign-up of any kind. There is no watermark on your downloads.

5. Which image formats can I upload?

You can upload PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, GIF and SVG images. Animated GIFs are rendered as a single still frame, since the generator exports static PNG images in v1.

6. What format is the downloaded meme?

MemePress downloads a high-resolution PNG file. The export uses the full resolution of your uploaded image (capped at 2400px on the longest side for performance).
